PITTSBURGH—Covestro L.L.C. is expanding its production capacity of thermoplastic polyurethane in North America by 25 percent by debottlenecking its New Martinsville, W. Va., manufacturing facility. The additional capacity is expected to come online in the second quarter of 2018, according to a company release.
The investment in capacity will allow Covestro to support the growth of its customers as demand for TPU rises both in North America and globally, as well as explore new market opportunities. It will expand production of its Texin product line, which is used in extrusion and injection molding applications.
It aligns with expansion activities in other regions, said Marius Wirtz, global head of TPU for Covestro.
