SUWON, South Korea—Songwon Industrial Co. Ltd. plans to add 5,000 metric tons per year in thermoplastic polyurethane capacity at its factory in Suwon during the fourth quarter, and also has launched a new TPU grade, the firm said in a news release.
The company said it will increase capacity there to 12,000 metric tons per year for wire and cable, film and sheet applications, which will fit into its global product strategy.
"The second production line in Suwon will enable us to meet the demand for these product and hep our customers worldwide to fulfill their end-use requirements," said Kyuyeol Lee, leader of the firm's performance polymers business.
Additionally, the company has launched Songstomer P-8185AI, a TPU with "excellent anti-blocking properties. Blown films produced using the material have exceptional strength, as well as excellent resistance to abrasion, oil, fuel, solvents and high temperatures," the firm said. It added that this combination of properties make the films suitable for use in automotive seating applications.
