ESSEN, Germany—Evonik Inc. has redesigned the brand profile of its silica portfolio and increased prices for performance materials molding compounds in the Americas, according to company releases.
The brand relaunch for Evonik Silica comes after Evonik's takeover of JM Huber Corp.'s silica business in September. It is now managed by Evonik Resource Efficiency GmbH. The brand relaunch covers the following silica brands, among others: Aerosil, Sipernat, Ultrasil, Aeroxide, Acematt, Zeodent, Zeofree, Spherilex, Hydrex and Zeolex.
Visually, the brand relaunch supports a broad range of product and services from a single source, according to Andreas Fischer, head of Evonik's silica business line.
The new logo and type give the brands a fresh, modern image and underline ties to Evonik, according to the release.
"The previous brand profile for our silica business was very heterogeneous and remained unchanged in the market for decades. We took the opportunity to update our brands' visual design and make it more distinctive," said Dirk Schon, who works on strategic silica projects at Evonik. "In harmonizing the brand design, we aim to ensure that we are recognized as a full-service provider for the entire silica family."
Also, Evonik's Performance Materials segment will increase prices in the Americas for its polymethyl methacrylate molding compounds marketed under the Acrylite trademark, effective Nov. 1.
Depending on the product portfolio and as far as is permissible under existing agreements, the increase will be up to 10 cents per pound.
