SHANGHAI—Cabot Corp. officially opened its new Asia technology center in Shanghai Sept. 14.
The nearly 48,500-sq.-ft. unit will enhance Cabot's application development capabilities and provide a "collaboration platform to deliver innovative solutions" to customers in Asia Pacific.
Located on the campus of Cabot's regional headquaters in Shanghai, the technology center features advanced analytical and application testing equipment, the company said. The lab provides testing and development capabilities to Cabot product lines such as rubber and specialty carbons, fumed metal oxides, masterbatch and compounds, activated carbon, and inkjet colorants.
The unit brings together 30 researchers and scientists from all Cabot businesses to improve "cross-collaboration, leverage different technology platforms and create new solutions for customers." The firm notes that the team was "specifically attuned to the unique requirements of Cabot's China- and Asia-based customers across a range of critical applications."
"This investment in China is strategically important to our ability to deliver on our vision and goal of driving application innovation with our customers by developing solutions that deliver advanced performance," President and CEO Sean Keohane said.
