LESZNO, Poland—VMI Group opened a new production plant in Leszno that will help the firm shorten delivery times and maintain a competitive cost level.
"This new manufacturing facility brings our global production capacity in line with current high order intake volumes and enables us to prepare for further growth," Harm Voortman, president and CEO of VMI Group said in a statement. "Our commitment to supply the market innovative solutions is clearly visible in this ultra-modern facility."
Built on a nearly 20-acre plot of land, the facility comprises 145,000 square feet of manufacturing space, warehousing and offices. It employs 70, though VMI plans to more than double the number of employees at the site by the middle of 2018. Because the facility is located near universities and technical schools, the firm said it has the ability to attract skilled employees.
VMI broke ground on its Leszno plant in November and construction took eight months.
