ITEC In Focus opens in five weeks

AKRON—ITEC In Focus returns Sept. 13-14 with a program on "Reinforcements for Tire Performance." The 18 scheduled presentations will cover topics such as reinforcing materials, the interaction of materials, compounding, machinery, testing, design, adhesion, failure analysis, rolling resistance and performance of treads under differing conditions. New research on materials also will be discussed.

Like the full three-day ITEC, this niche conference is an international event with nearly 40 percent of the speakers coming from outside of the U.S., from industry hot spots such as Belgium, Germany, India and China.

Featured speakers include:

• Xiaohui Wu, from the College of Materials Science and Engineering at Beijing University of Chemical Technology in China, where he specializes in advanced elastomer nanocomposites.
• Guy Buytaert, senior research and development project manager from Bekaert, who serves as the firm's global expert on steel cord and wire for rubber adhesion.
• Christine Domer, general manager of the Smithers Rapra Akron laboratory, where she manages chemical and physical testing services on rubber ad polymer materials.

Online registration is open, and anyone who registers by Aug. 14 will qualify for the $100 savings.
