BALTIMORE—Dunleary Inc., a regional specialty chemical distribution company, acquired D. N. Lukens Inc. and D&F Distributing Inc. with a closing date set for the end of August, subject to due diligence.
The companies will meld into one entity and establish a new brand identity, by late 2017, according to a statement. Collectively, the three companies cover coatings, adhesives, sealants, elastomers, plastics, construction, food, personal care, cosmetics, graphic arts, oil and gas, rubber, textiles and others.
The company's new geographic footprint covers 28 states and brings together 29 technically focused employees with direct field sales responsibilities.
"This move enables us to collectively meet and exceed the demands of our key business partners with even greater innovation, imagination and expertise," CEO David Behan said in a statement. "The best specialty chemical distributors in America have always been the small family enterprises and entrepreneurs that live and work in the same ecosystem as their customers and their families."
The firm also said it has hired Dirk Plas to serve as principal relationships and development vice president. Plas was president and CEO of BYK USA Inc. for the past 14 years.
Other members of the new management team will include Chief Operating Officer John Lukens; President William Chestnutt; Executive Vice President Julia Williams; Jeff Palumbo, vice president of sales; and Chief Technical Officer Steve Hightower. The company also will utilize John Behan, Julue Duplechian and Terry DePierri.
Dunleary was founded in 1949, D. N. Lukens in 1951 and D & F Distributing in 1975.
