BERLIN—Bridgestone Corp. has earned Volkswagen Group's top supplier honor for innovation and technology. It is just one of seven VW suppliers globally to receive the honor.
During a June 28 ceremeony in Berlin, Volkswagen A.G. CEO Matthias Mueller cited Bridgestone's "willingness to explore new pathways" with VW in the areas of e-mobility, battery technology and autonomous driving for being selected for the award.
Paulo Ferrari, CEO and president of Bridgestone Europe/Middle East/Africa, said, "Innovation is about change, and every change that demands a significant technology upgrade is for us, leaders in the industry, an opportunity—so we are going to ride this wave, anticipate this wave, and together with partners like the Volkswagen Group we can stay ahead of the technology curve."
VW honored Bridgestone and 18 other suppliers with a variety of quality awards at the company's 15th annual Group Awards ceremony.
Bridgestone also is a member of VW's Future Automotive Supply Tracks initiative, which recognizes a select circle of 55 suppliers for their ability to implement innovations more efficiently and faster than their competitors.
This strategic dialogue provides these suppliers with regular access to top decision-makers in the VW Group.
