WASHINGTON—Michelin North America Inc. has submitted a petition for a decision of inconsequential noncompliance with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, involving 370 mismarked BFGoodrich gForce Rival S summer performance tires.
The tires, size P335/30ZR18, were manufactured between March 2 and March 30, Michelin told NHTSA.
Their tire size designation markings do not contain the tire type code designator symbol from the Tire and Rim Association yearbook, the tire maker said.
The tires are marked with the correct maximum load and pressure load index, as well as a "Light Load" description to ensure proper application, according to Michelin.
Also, the tires have the correct tread sticker label showing the correct size designation and part number, it said.
Interested parties have until Aug. 10 to comment, according to the NHTSA notice in the July 11 Federal Register. The notice may be found online.
