GERMANTOWN, Ohio—Recycled Shingle Solutions, L.L.C., a wholly owned subsidiary of Dupps Co., reached an agreement to allow Alternative Rubber & Plastics to distribute Harmonite powders.
The distributorship, which was signed in June 2017 and begins immediately, will reach more compounders and manufacturers of coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers, according to an RSS spokesman.
"RSS is a relatively new business outside of the parent company's core markets," the spokesman said. "Distributors like Alternative Rubber & Plastics help us in a number of ways. They have excellent relationships in key RSS target market segments and provide strong sales, technical support and customer service in those markets. Their strong reputation and dedicated sales force extends our reach and helps us accelerate our penetration into new markets."
Harmonite is an engineered material manufactured in a patented, thermal-mechanical process. It is a versatile, multi-functional ingredient that can be used as an economical base compound for building new product formulations, or a specialty performance additive to enhance existing formulations and replace or reduce consumption of more expensive compounds.
Applications are primarily in the industrial and construction sectors, such as roofing membranes, mastics, pressure-sensitive adhesives for flashing tapes, cope seals for foundry castings, conveyor covers and floor mats.
