POMONA, Calif.—Polytek Development Corp. and California Medical Innovations have merged.
According to a Polytek news release, the deal will allow the combined entity to elevate its performance to offer a stronger nationwide presence. The collaboration of the research and development departments and sophisticated manufacturing facilities at both locations will also provide more opportunity for customized solutions for existing and new customers.
The companies will continue to do business under their existing names during the integration process. Polytek said the companies will integrate their work forces.
Based in Easton, Pa., Polytek manufactures specialty polymers including polyurethane elastomers and casting resins, silicones, epoxies, and latex primarily used in mold making and casting applications for industrial, construction, entertainment, fine arts and technology sectors with more than 35 years of experience in the custom compounding sector.
Pomona-based CMI produces latex, plastisols (PVCs) and thermoplastic elastomers.
Polytek said President Joseph Lawrence and CMI President Danny Nathie will remain in their current roles. Polytek CEO Jonathan Kane has been named CEO of the combined entity.
"The merger of the two companies creates a portfolio of products for our industries, unmatched by any competitor in the world, with a coast to coast presence that allows us to respond more quickly than ever before," Kane said in a statement. "Combined with our shared culture of customer service, technical support and innovation, we are poised to offer customers the best material solutions in the world."
The release did not mention if Yousof Nathie, founder of CMI, will have a role in the combined firm.
"We are very excited to partner with Polytek and MPE, and believe they will be great stewards for the combined enterprise," Nathie said in a statement. "The combined portfolio of products offered will bring additional value to the solutions we can bring to our customers."
