BRIGHTON, Mich.—TG Fluid Systems USA Corp. has begun an expansion of its Brighton facility, adding more than 62,000 square feet to the site.
The renovation ultimately will allow the subsidiary of Toyoda Gosei Co. Ltd. to house all three of its facilities into one operation. The firm is investing nearly $11 million in the expansion, which will increase capacity by 25 percent and add about 35 new jobs in the next three years.
TG said the expansion will allow it to meet growing customer demand and increase the efficiency of TGFSUS.
"This is an exciting time for TGFSUS. With the completion of the consolidation, we will have all of our people and operations under one roof. Included in that, the development of a new and improved test lab to support product development," TGFSUS President Brian Foddrill said in a statement.
Toyoda Gosei acquired TGFSUS from Eagle Pitcher in 2000. Since then, the firm said it has seen tremendous growth in the Livingston County area. When acquired, the firm's sales were about $5 million with 70 employees. In 2015, TG said it invested about $9.3 million to open the current Brighton site and by the end of fiscal 2016, TGFSUS had increase sales to about $111 million.
The subsidiary also produced 27.6 million parts in 2016, which TG said was a record.
TGFSUS has also donated substantially to the Livingston County United Way for the last 15 years among other charitable organizations—including Brighton High School, Toys for Tots, and Work Skills. In 2016, TGFSUS donated more than $18,500 to these local charities and more.
