ESSEN, Germany—Federal Tire Corp.'s 595RS-RR ultra-high-performance tire has received Red Dot Award recognition for its design, handling and endurance.
Considered to be one of the most prestigious design recognitions, the Red Dot Design Award is an international prize awarded by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen of Germany and has been given annually since since 1955.
"Winning Red Dot Awards is testament to our dedication to tire performance and quality," said Da-Wu Chen, Federal Tires' global sales and marketing director.
"We are very proud that our 595RS-RR has received such global recognition from the Red Dot Awards, and we will continue to enhance our product competitiveness through continuous R&D concentration."
The Taiwanese tire maker noted that the 595RS-RR tread pattern features a "blazing wings" design that helps to reduce aquaplaning and increase traction in rainy conditions, allowing drivers to navigate corners on wet tracks more easily.
The fiery design also celebrates the "dedication to the inseparable bound between drivers and vehicles, while also symbolizing Federal's everlasting passion for motorsports excellence," Federal said.
In addition, the 595RS-RR is built with silica-infused compounds, which, Federal claims, enhances traction on dry tracks.
Federal is considered the No. 4 tire maker in Taiwan and No. 65 worldwide, with sales of $232 million in 2015.
In business since 1954, Federal opened its first U.S. sales office just last year, in Torrance, Calif., to support its dealers/distributors in North America and help drive marketing and advertising.
The new company, Federal Tire North America L.L.C., is led by Federal veteran Jason Lee.
