BEACHWOOD, Ohio—The Rubber Division concluded its Spring Technical Meeting by recognizing several individuals for their outstanding service to the organization.
Jim Eddy received an award for his service as director of the Detroit Rubber Group, while R. Christopher Napier was honored for his continued, valuable service to the organization. The Arnold Smith Special Service Award was given to William Mars, and Past Chair Leo Goss was honored for his service during the previous year.
Rubber Division Chair William Stahl presented the awards.
Two service awards were given posthumously. Aleece Jackson accepted the Lifetime Service Award on behalf of her late husband Jerry Jackson, while Chris Feit accepted the Distinguished Service Award on behalf of her late husband Al Feit.
This year's Spring Technical Meeting was hosted April 24-27 in Beachwood. Among the highlighted events was the awarding of the Charles Goodyear Medal to Judit Puskas, a professor of chemical and micromolecular engineering at the University of Akron, on April 26. Additional awards were given during the program, honoring those who have made significant contributions to rubber industry research and education.
Kurt Aerts, vice president, specialty elastomers & butyl, ExxonMobil Chemical, presented the keynote address on April 25, the same day the organization recognized those who have worked in the rubber industry for 25 years or more during the 25 Year Luncheon Club.
The Rubber Division will host its International Elastomer Conference Oct. 9-12 in at the Huntington Convention Center in Cleveland. Additional information about that event, as well as more details about the organization, is available at www.rubber.org.
