BEACHWOOD, Ohio—A keynote address and the 25-Year Club countdown to the person with the most years in the rubber industry highlighted the first day of the ACS Rubber Division's spring technical meeting in Beachwood.
Kurt Aerts, ExxonMobil Chemical vice president of the global specialty elastomers and butyl rubber business, talked to the audience about "Leading Through Innovation—Foundation for Success in Synthetic Rubber."

Among other points, he told the technical group that successful innovation must do three things: address megatrends; identify opportunities across the entire value chain; and include both expertise along with the ability to work in collaboration with others.
John Dick, retired from Alpha Technologies, won the countdown at the 25-Year Club Luncheon with 46 years in the rubber industry. The honor goes to the person in attendance with the most years in the business, with previous winners ineligible.
The meeting also included about 20 table top exhibits, the first time they have been made available at the division's spring technical session.
