Apollo rolls out SUV, motorcycle tires

GURGAON, India—Apollo Tyres Ltd. is expanding its coverage of sport-utility vehicles and motorcycles in the Indian market with the addition of its three newest products—the Apterra HT2 for four-by-fours and SUVs, and tubeless motorcycle tires actiZip F2 and actiZip R3.

The HT2 is designed for improved braking on all surfaces, Apollo said. The tire features stiffer ribs that improve braking on dry surfaces, while the wider circumferential grooves for improve braking on wet surfaces.

Additionally, the tire's wear resistant compound leads to longer tread life, Apollo said. The HT2, which is designed to provide reduced noise and a comfortable ride, initially will be available in six sizes with T, H and V speed ratings.

The actiZip F2 and actiZip R3 tires are designed to provide improved braking in both wet and dry conditions. Apollo noted that the tires' tread blocks and grooves are designed to optimize grip, high-speed cornering stability and performance. They also feature a polymers-based tread compound and have a stress-free casing structure with extra protection at the tread and bead areas.

The F2 is a front wheel fitment available in two sizes. The R3, a rear wheel fitment, has been rolled out in three sizes. With these additions to its motorcycle tire portfolio, Apollo now covers close to 90 percent of India's two-wheeler market.
