SANTA ANA, Calif.—Yokohama Tire Corp.'s newest tire offering caters to the sports car, track day and race enthusiasts.
The ultra-high performance Advan A052 features a new asymmetric tread pattern and a special compound which adds to the tire's improved grip in both wet and dry conditions, according to the tire maker. Yokohama also claims the new tire offers better cornering capabilities and fuel efficiency.
"The A052 is engineered for superior handling, increased traction and improved lap times," Andrew Briggs, Yokohama senior director of tire business planning, product planning and sales operation, said in a news release. "It delivers proven performance and extremely high levels of wet and dry grip."
The A052, which is being launched in 19 sizes for 16- to 18-inch rims, also features a stable outer compound rib with a notched micro groove for enhanced heat dissipation and improved wet traction. Two wide inner circumferential groove provide straight-line stability.
The tire can serve as fitments on Porsche 911, Mercedes C63 AMG, BMW M3, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, Subaru WRX STI, among others.
