SAN ANTONIO—NAHAD opened up its annual convention in San Antonio on Sunday with an IBM executive leading a panel discussion with four distributors on "Facing the Forces of Change."

Jeffrey Van Pelt, global lead of consumer products and distribution for IBM Industry & Solutions presented research from the book of the same name, touching on such topics as changing technology, tightening margins, fluctuating customer demands and addressing what are expected to be the top disrupters in the industry.

The convention runs through April 5, with activities including educational tracks, a talk from astronaut Mark Kelly, and a table top exhibit featuring the manufacturers who supply hoses and other accessories to the distribution members.
