TOKYO—Fumio Ito, Kuraray Co. Ltd. representative director and chairman, died March 1 at the age of 69, the Japanese chemical and fiber manufacturer confirmed.
Ito joined Kuraray in 1971 and was appointed managing director in 2006 and president in 2008. He took over as chairman in January 2015.
Kuraray has not announced a replacement for Ito.
