MILAN—Pirelli & C. S.p.A. has promoted Paul Hembery to be executive president of its Latin American region consumer business, succeeding Paulo Dal Pino, who was promoted last fall to CEO of Pirelli Industrial.
Hembery, Pirelli's motorsports director since 1999, will retain that role alongside his new duties, Pirelli said, which include operating units in Argentina, Brazil and Venezuela.
Hembery has been with Pirelli since 1992, joining the tire maker's United Kingdom unit as an OE quality engineer. He was OE technical director in the U.S. for 21 months during 1998-99 and was CEO of Pirelli's East Asia Pacific business unit from 2008-2010.
The change is effective March 15.
A Pirelli veteran of just five years, Dal Pino is tasked with steering the integration of Pirelli's commercial operations with those of China National Chemical Co. and Aeolus Tyre Co. Ltd. to form a new company that is expected to become the world's fourth largest commercial tire producer.
Dal Pino has maintained responsibility for the Latin American consumer business in the interim, assisted by Claudio Passerini, chief operating officer for the region, Pirelli said.
While Hembery retains overall coordination responsibility for Pirelli's motorsport activities, he is supported by Mario Isola and Giorgio Barbier, heads of car and moto racing, respectively, along with Gianni Guidotti, head of technical and commercial operations.
