BOWIE, Md.—The Tire Industry Association is accepting nominations for the 2017 Tire Industry Hall of Fame, through July 3.
The Tire Industry Hall of Fame is open to any individual in the tire industry, including manufacturers, dealers, inventors, publishers, equipment suppliers, association executives, recyclers and retreaders, TIA said. Individuals may be named to the Hall of Fame posthumously, it said.
TIA chooses Hall of Fame inductees based on contributions of new ideas to the industry; practices promoting the well-being of the industry; exemplary service to the industry; and respect toward their peers in the industry, it said.
Contributions to civic, cultural, educational or charitable endeavors may also be factors in considering a candidate, the association said.
TIA will honor Hall of Fame inductees at its Tire Industry Honors Awards Ceremony in Las Vegas Oct. 30, as part of the pre-show program for the Global Tire Expo-Powered by TIA, which is part of the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show.
Last year's honorees were: Dan Brown of American TIre Distributors Inc., Richard "Dick" Gust of Liberty Tire Recycling Inc., the late Fredrick Kovac of Goodyear and the late Charles "Husky" Sherkin of United Tire & Rubber.
