WASHINGTON—Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. is recalling 7,067 Cooper Discoverer M+S Sport tires because they may have been mismarked as snow tires.
The recall involves 14 different sizes of Discover M+S tires, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. They are:
- 215/70R16
- 225/65R17
- 225/70R16
- 235/60R18
- 235/65R17
- 235/70R16
- 235/75R15
- 245/70R16
- 255/50R19
- 255/55R18
- 255/60R17
- 255/60R16
- 265/65R17
- 265/70R16
These tires may have been marked with the Alpine Symbol, even though they do not meet the traction requirements for snow tires, Cooper told NHTSA.
Cooper will start notifying owners of the recall Feb. 24, and replace the tires free of charge. Owners may call Cooper's customer service line at 800-854-6288. Cooper's number for this recall is 166.
