MAASTRICHT, Netherlands—Arlanxeo is introducing new solution styrene butadiene rubbers (SSBR) and other tire production technologies during Tire Technology Expo in Hanover, Germany, on Feb. 13-16.
The Lanxess-Saudi Aramco rubber JV said Feb. 13 that its Tire & Speciality Rubbers (TSR) unit would be introducing two new commercialised SSBRs—Buna FX 3234A-2 and Buna FX 5000—that feature first and second generation functionalization technologies, respectively.
Buna FX 3234A-2 is a high styrene SSBR featuring functional groups designed to interact with silica fillers in order to reduce rolling resistance in passenger tire treads. The product, Arlanxeo said, contains 37.5 phr of TDAE oil and is designed especially for high performance summer tires.
Buna FX 5000, a high vinyl SSBR featuring Arlanxeo´s second generation functionalization technology, also is designed to interact with silica fillers to boost fuel economy.
This product contains just 7 phr TDAE oil extension, which offers the compounder the chance to optimize rolling resistance through the reduction of filler loadings.
