AKRON—Goodyear is adding a new all-weather tire to its Assurance line.
The new tire, dubbed WeatherReady, is Goodyear's "best traction tire ever," with improved performance in snow, ice and rain, according to Ryan Patterson, president of Goodyear's North American consumer tire business.
The WeatherReady tire is designed with the company's Weather Reactive Technology, which includes evolving traction grooves that offer continued traction as the tire tread wears. The tire's asymmetric tread and zig-zag biting edges, combined with the 3D Treadlock Technology, allow it to maintain grip as weather changes, Goodyear said.
"Rain, sleet or shine, this tire delivers the best all-season traction for consumers," Patterson said in a statement. "It was developed in partnership with our customers, to satisfy the needs of their consumers. Throughout its design process, we engaged with our customers collaborating on performance requirements, product appearance and other features."
WeatherReady will be offered in a range of sizes for 15- to 20-inch rim diameters, covering up to 77 percent of cars, minivans and SUVs on the road, according to Goodyear. Popular fitments include the Toyota Camry, Corolla and Highlander; the Ford Edge, Escape and Explorer; the Honda Accord, Civic and CR-V; the Hyundai Sonata and Santa Fe; the Nissan Altima and Rogue; and the Chevrolet Cruze and Equinox.
