NOKIA, Finland—Nokian Tyres P.L.C. has renewed its studded tire range by launching new flagship products: the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9, designed for passenger cars, and the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9 SUV for sports utility vehicles.
In a statement, the Finnish tire maker said it had developed a new stud technology for Hakkapeliitta winter tires, which applied different studs in different parts of the tire.
This patented studding technology, said Juha Pirhonen, Nokian vice president for research and development, is "unique" within the tire industry, and offers both longitudinal grip and lateral grip when cornering under winter conditions.
In addition to the Nokian Hakkapeliitta winter tires, the company also is introducing new studded Nokian Nordman 7 and Nokian Nordman 7 SUV winter tires, which are the alternative to premium products in terms of the price to quality ratio.
The new products will start shipping to retailers in the spring of 2017 and will be available during the winter tire season of autumn 2017.
