WATERFORD, N.Y.—Momentive Performance Materials Inc. will display a number of NXT silane products for use in tire manufacturing and processing during the 2017 Tire Technology Expo in Hannover, Germany, Feb. 14-16.
NXT silane, a thiocarboxylate functional silane, can reduce rolling resistance without loss of wet traction, Momentive said. The material, it added, increases "overall production efficiency for tire manufacturers as compared to standard sulfur silanes."
Also on display will be NXT Z 45 silane, which is an oligomeric combination of mercapto and thiocarboxylate functional silanes. According to Momentive, NXT Z 45 can help improve "dynamic and physical properties, reduce overall manufacturing costs through improved processing, and virtually eliminate ethanol emissions."
Silica compounds coupled with NXT Z 45 silane, the company said, generally exhibit "improved silica dispersion, easier mixing, and faster pliable processing."
