WOLVERHAMPTON, England—Production has come to an end at Goodyear's Wolverhampton plant and, to date, 283 workers have left the site, according to a Goodyear spokeswoman.
"Over the last 18 months we have worked closely with our associates and the trade unions to help those affected by the closure of the Wolverhampton plant," Goodyear EMEA communications manager Nik Ellis said.
Of those seeking further employment, she said, the majority have secured positions around the local area.
According to Ellis, another 37 workers will remain to complete the plant close-down, estimated to end in June 2017.
The company will maintain its sales office for the United Kingdom as it will remain "as a very important market for Goodyear," Ellis said.
