ATLANTA—The Georgia Department of Economic Development has given Toyo Tire North America Manufacturing Inc. the Automotive Supplier of the Year Award in the inaugural Georgia Automotive Awards.
The Georgia Automotive Awards were created to honor auto industry leaders throughout the state and honor them for their contributions toward building a robust automotive economy in Georgia, the agency said.
Toyo was honored specifically for its sustained growth and its continuing contributions to Georgia's economy, according to the agency. Since breaking ground on its manufacturing facility in White, Ga., in 2004, Toyo has grown from 81 to 1,180 employees in the state, and more than doubled the size of its plant, it said.
A new expansion scheduled for completion in 2017 will bring the total manufacturing space at the Toyo facility in White to 3 million square feet, the agency said.
