GUANDONG, China—Tianyang Mold Co. Ltd. of Shantou, Guangdong Province, said it has formed a U.S. subsidiary, Tianyang U.S., which is based in Maryville, Tenn.
The company said this is the first step in the tire mold manufacturer's global marketing program.
Ian Smith, a director of the Tianyang Mold, will head the U.S.-based company that initially will be a sales and marketing operation. Smith retired from Mesnac Americas in December, 2015, and was formerly CEO and a part owner of Davian Enterprises. He has more than 40 years of experience in the rubber and tire industry.
The company said it is looking to hire technical support for the U.S. operation.
Tianyang Mold manufactures and supplies precision molds and containers in passenger, truck/bus and off-road tire sizes to domestic and international tire companies from plants in Shantou and Jieyang, Guangdong Province.
The Jieyang plant is being expanded to accommodate the expected increase in sales.
