A look at one of Nynas' manufacturing facilities.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden—Nynas is opening a storage and distribution facility for naphthenic specialty oils in New Jersey to serve customers in the U.S. and Canada.

According to the Swedish specialty oils manufacturer, deliveries from the depot will start by the end of this year.

Heavy naphthenic tire oil Nytex 810 is among the first products to be introduced at the depot, with expansion plans to include heavier grades and transformer oil, said Blair Krauter sales manager, Nynas Naphthenics USA & Canada.

Nynas already has depots in Houston, Long Beach and Chester in the U.S., as well as Montreal, Canada.

The addition of the depot in New Jersey is aimed to improve delivery “in an area with a high demand,” the company added.

Nynas did not give further details on the size of the investment or the facility but said it would improve service levels and supply reliability for customers in North America.

“It also opens up the shipping channel for products we only produce in Europe to a storage location where products have the highest demand,” said Edward Skelton, head of supply chain Nynas Naphthenics Americas.

According to Skelton, all the products will be supplied from Nynas' European refineries and will therefore be registered under REACH.
