A look at the diagram of the K Show grounds that greets visitors as they enter the fairgrounds.

DUESSELDORF, Germany—If you've noticed a lot of people at K 2013—or in photos of the show you're seeing on social media—it's not a surprise.

Attendance at K 2016 is running about 6.3 percent above the last show, in 2013.

Through Oct 24, the sixth day of the eight-day trade show at Messe Duesseldorf, attendance reached 186,000, according to the show organizer.

Attendance has been running ahead of the 2013 pace every day since the show started on Oct. 19 with the exception of Sunday, Oct. 23, when it was down just a bit.

Here are the numbers from Messe Duesseldorf:

    • Day 1, Oct. 19: 26,000, up 3,000 from 2013.

    • Day 2, Oct. 20: 45,000, up 3,000.

    • Day 3, Oct. 21: 38,500, up 2,500.

    • Day 4, Oct. 22: 30,000, up 1,000.

    • Day 5, Oct. 23: 18,000, down 1,000.

    • Day 6, Oct. 24: 28,500, up 2,500.

In 2013, a total of 219,000 visitors ended up coming to the K show, which was down 1.5 percent from the 222,486 who came to the previous K, in 2010.

The trade show officials' prediction for 2016 was “about 200,000,” a number that they appear very likely to surpass again this year.

The K show concludes on Wednesday, Oct. 26.

K historically is the world's largest plastics trade show.
