RPN/ERJ offers a daily selection of interesting new products and technologies on display at the exhibition halls at K. Today's snapshot focuses on thermoplastics elastomers:
Materials supplier Huntsman is unveiling an innovative thermoplastic polyurethane for the sports footwear market at K2016. As well as being ultra-lightweight, high cushioning and fully recyclable, the TPU material is said offer tuneable rebound properties - meaning that the TPU can provide optimised energy-return properties in shoe sole applications.
At K2016 Kraiburg TPE introduced flame retardant compounds of the FR/AD1 series. The Thermolast K TPEs were developed especially for applications in the construction industry, where they are used to ensure flexible cable installation in flush-mounting boxes. The material is flame retardant in accordance with UL94 and is included in flammability class V0. It is also said to feature “excellent” adhesion with ABS and PC in two-component injection molding and be free of latex, PVC and halogen.
