PITTSBURGH—Leo Goss, 2016 chair of the ACS Rubber Division, said he is pleased with progress made this year toward working on the four main goals established as part of the division's 2016-20 strategic plan.
Goss, who works in technical services for the Rhein Chemie additive business unit of Lanxess, said during the Rubber Division's International Elastomer Conference in Pittsburgh that he has named four champions to concentrate on each of the goals.
Leonard Thomas, a consultant and past Rubber Division chair, will be the champion for the goal to develop and implement a recruitment and retention plan to entice individuals and companies and other organizations to be active members.
Kimberly Dempsey-Miller, consultant, will concentrate on developing strategic partnerships and collaboration with industry leaders globally.
William Stahl of Rainbow Master Mixing and 2016 chair-elect of the Rubber Division, has been tasked to work on making the division the premier global elastomeric resource in providing education, science, technology and business-related information, programs and activities.
And Terry Delapa of Alpha Technologies and a past Rubber Division chair, will be the champion to develop and communicate messages that convey the relevance, importance and value of elastomers to the global community.
The IEC and Rubber Expo run Oct. 11-13 in Pittsburgh.
