MASSILLON, Ohio—Standards Testing Laboratories will hold its 2016 Tire Technology Seminar Oct. 18-20 at its headquarters in Massillon.

The two-and-a-half-day educational event is geared toward anyone directly or indirectly involved in the tire industry, according to STL. The seminar is designed to provide an overview of tire design, tire construction and tire performance, and it features teams of automotive and tire industry speakers from the engineering, chemistry and mechanics/vehicle dynamics fields

Presentation topics including tire testing, tire design and research, tire engineering and compounding, product development and advanced concepts.

STL said its tire tech course offers an overview of procedures involved in tire manufacturing, including raw materials, techniques, equipment and processes. Topics include industry regulatory and legislative activity; major service issues facing the industry; the basics of tire uniformity and rolling resistance; and an overview of wheels, their types and how they are manufactured and tested.

In addition, participants will tour the testing labs at STL's facility for a first-hand look at equipment and methodology and will have the opportunity to participate in Q&A sessions throughout the course.

Registration is $1,250 and includes admission to the conference, all materials, three luncheons, an evening banquet and refreshments throughout the three-day course.

Interested parties may register by emailing Cheryl Schnuth, vice president of marketing and technical services, at [email protected]

STL said it is the world's largest independent testing facility for tires, wheels and related automotive components. Through its four divisions, STL offers the rubber and automotive industries laboratory testing, static and physical testing, fleet testing, test machines, specialized photographic and video services and consulting services.
