FINDLAY, Ohio—Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. said it will connect with more than 10,000 students, most of them eighth graders, through a series of Manufacturing Day events to be held throughout October.
While Manufacturing Day is officially Oct. 7, Cooper will be holding events at or near its plants in Findlay; Texarkana, Ark.; and Tupelo, Miss. throughout the month. The firm's Findlay facility—also the site of its global headquarters, global technical center and regional technical center for North America—will host 950 students from Oct. 4-7 to experience eight different interactive stations ranging from raw materials and tire design to tire assembly, mold design and curing.
Texarkana will host about 1,500 students from six middle and junior high schools at the Texarkana Convention Center to experience the same interactive stations held in Findlay with an expanded number of additional stations, including engineering, information technology, lab and warehousing/distribution.
Tupelo will participate in two events, the first will be participating in the local Imagine the Possibilities Career Expo from Oct. 4-6 at the BancorpSouth Arena and Conference Center, where about 7,000 eighth grade students will attend. The second will be hosting its own Cooper Manufacturing Experience at its site in Tupelo where about 1,200 students will experience many of the same interactive stations that Findlay and Texarkana will offer.
