AKRON—Organizers said the International Tire Exhibition & Conference, held last week at the John S. Knight Center in Akron, was a big success.
The event sold out all of its booth space, and attendance this year surpassed the number of people who attended the biennial show in 2014.
ITEC highlights included the keynote address by David Stafford, executive vice president for Michelin North America and past chief operating officers, Michelin Americas Research Co. In addition, the Harold Herzlich Distinguished Technology Achievement Award was presented to Andreas Limper, managing director, the HF-Freudenberg Plant.
The 70-plus presentations in the technical program included unit operations workshops covering tire materials, modeling, heavy machinery, consumer information, testing, production processes and a recycling workshop.
A special group of programs was held to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Banbury Mixer. Presentations are available for purchase in the Rubber & Plastics News Data Store.
The networking reception, sponsored once again by VMI on the show's opening night, featured Ohio craft-brewed beer in HF Group's Banbury Beer Garden.
“Many thanks to our ITEC attendees, speakers, exhibitors and sponsors—we couldn't have had such a great show without your support,” said Sarah Arnold, marking and events manager at RPN. “We look forward to seeing you again in 2018.”
RPN will be sponsoring ITEC InFocus, the International Hose Conference, a Rubber in Automotive Conference and the International Latex Conference in the coming months, according to Arnold.
