Editor's Note: Each week, Rubber & Plastics News will take a look at some of the rubber industry's new products and innovations on www.rubbernews.com. Does your company have a new product or new innovation? To be considered for inclusion in this recurring feature, email [email protected]

Clean Air Products has released a pass-thru cabinet that features a new door gasket that the company said facilitates cleaning and complies with USP 800 cleaning requirements.

The door gasket, standard on model CAP18W, is made of durable, heavy-gauge polyethylene, the company said, to eliminate interior voids that could harbor contamination, allowing for surfaces of the door to be cleaned thoroughly.

Clean Air Products claimed its CAP18W pass-thru cabinet is suitable for manufacturing and laboratory processes requiring easy but thorough cleaning, including pharmacies and semi-conductor manufacturing.

Clean Air Products has released a pass-thru cabinet with a new door gasket that the company said facilitates cleaning and complies with USP 800 cleaning requirements.

The double-wall cabinet encases and protects the mechanical interlock, the company said, and formed- and stitch-welded seams makes the material easier to wipe down. Clean Air Products said the removable interior maintenance panels with pan-head hardware are easy to clean and allow access to the interlock for maintenance.

The 90- degree, stainless steel, T-handle turn latch allows only one door to be open at a time, the company said, reducing contamination. Models are available in five sizes: 12x12x12; 18x18x18; 24x24x24; 30x30x30; 36x36x36. The company said other sizes and configurations also are available.

Troester GmbH & Co. K.G. said it has extended the Rotomex gear extruder, also known as ZX series, for straining of rubber compounds.

Troester has extended its ZX series for straining of rubber compounds.

The newly developed ZX 150/120 and ZX 170/130 meet demand for more output, the company said, and reach up to 4,800 pounds per hour, depending on construction size. The ZX series of gear extruders reaches an output of up to 590-4,800 pouns per hour, the company said, with corresponding rubber density and viscosity.

The construction with feed gear shaft technology and the usual handling enable the use in mixing room and extrusion line, Troester claimed.

To account for rubber compound properties of tires and technical rubber goods, the drive shafts as well as housing and head are designed to be tempered separately, Troester said.

Mettler Toledo International Inc. has launched its XPR balance line of precision laboratory instruments, which the company said offers micro and ultra-micro models.

Mettler Toledo said the XPR combines usability and accuracy critical in industries such as pharma where sample sizes are small and productivity must be maintained.

The company said its XPR6UD5 is the first ultra-micro balance on the market, and it claimed the device offers 0.5µl resolution at 25 percent better repeatability than traditional microbalances using a blend of innovative design characteristics.

Mettler Toledo has launched its XPR balance line of precision laboratory instruments, offering micro and ultra-micro models.

Those characteristics, according to the company, include heightened stability via active temperature controlling, which draws heat away from the balance for enhanced measurement accuracy and repeatability; ongoing quality assurance through GWP approved, which automatically checks tests, adjustments, leveling, and settings prior to weighing; and user profile storage with tolerance profiles, which ensure that weighing tasks meet defined process requirements and applicable regulations.

The company said usability is delivered by a small bench print, with user interface that, similar to a smartphone, allows users to swipe on programming and running tasks. A built-in result notepad simplifies documentation, the company claimed, and lets users store comments. Individual task methods can be stored and accessed via icons, Mettler Toledo said.

Other XPR design benefits, the company claimed, include a new weighing pan for easier cleaning and USB data transfer for quick export of task parameters or results.
