    FINDLAY, Ohio—Hercules Tire & Rubber Co. is expanding its Terra Trac light truck line with two new offerings—the M/T mud-terrain and T/G Max commercial traction tires.

    Both tire are designed for rugged off-road applications, while providing on-road safety and durability, Hercules said. Their designs feature variable full-depth siping, stone release technology and tread compound formulations for optimized performance both on and off the road, the company said.

    The M/T is offered in 21 sizes ranging from 15- to 20-inch wheel diameters.

    “I would call the Terra Trac M/T a ‘modern mud tire' because it's designed for high performance both on and off the road,” said Jedd Emans, Hercules Tires' vice president of marketing.

    “Most drivers with mud tires spend the majority of their time on paved roads, not trails. This tire is designed for the way consumers really drive,” he added.

    Among the Terra Trac M/T's features are:

    • A “Hi/Lo” tread design that offers a higher void-to-rubber ratio on the outside of the tire for off-road traction, while a tighter center rib section provides better on-road stability and reduced road noise;
    • Stud pins in the tread which allow for enhanced winter traction and control;
    • A reversible camouflage sidewall design; and
    • Large shoulder scallops for improved off-road traction, rough terrain grip and soft surface traction.

    The T/G Max is designed for challenges presented by “hazardous work environments, from gravel-strewn construction sites, to muddy farm fields,” according to Emans. The T/G Max is available in 15 sizes for wheels ranging in size from 15 to 18 inches.

    Other features of the Terra Trac T/G Max are:

    • A Silica-infused cut and chip resistant compound that resists damage while providing better wear and wet traction;
    • A deep tread depth which helps to maximum performance for work site vehicles;
    • A square profile design for better surface contact, maximum traction and tread life;
    • An aggressive upper shoulder for enhanced abrasion resistance and biting edges for better off-road traction.

    “But even with all its tough features, it offers excellent all-season highway performance. This tire is the best of both worlds,” Emans said.

    Both tires feature the company's on-road road-hazard protection for up to two years or 50 percent treadwear. Each is also offered with Hercules' exclusive 30-day “Trust Our Ride” test drive option.
