ISTANBUL—A composite technologies center of excellence, built jointly by tire cord producer Kordsa Global and Sabanci University has opened in Istanbul's innovation hub, Teknopark,
The $33.5-million center, which aims to create a technology hub through university-industry cooperation, was opened Aug. 29 in the presence of Turkish prime minister Binali Yıldırım.
According to a Kordsa news release, the center will operate in the field of high-technology composite materials, to service industries such as aviation and automotive.
Kordsa's production engineers and Sabanci University's academic members and doctoral students will work working together in research and development and production processes of the composite at the center.
