INDIANAPOLIS—The Association for Rubber Products Manufacturers has released the 5th edition IP-1 Handbook, a document used within the conveyor and elevator belt industry.
Fenner Dunlop America, Continental ContiTech and Rubber & Plastics Inc. collaborated with ARPM on the 5th Edition Handbook. ARPM worked on the handbook from 2011-16.
New aspects of the handbook include the addition of the impact test procedure for textile belts (a conveyor belt industry first), separate chapters for steel and textile conveyor belts, and a revision and expansion of the splicing chapter.
ARPM said it has been working on the book since 2011.
“All data from the previous document were reviewed for industry accuracy,” Jerry Lukavich, APRM technical coordinator, said in a statement. “The result is an easier-to-use document with separate sections (chapters) for textile and steel conveyor belts. Where possible, pictures versus drawings were used. Where beneficial, some drawings were updated to color and others were made three-dimensional for improved clarity.”
