HOUSTON—Spot premium prices for all grades of zinc oxide will increase effective Sept. 15, according to officials with U.S. Zinc, who also noted that the price increases will not affect customers currently under contract.
U.S. Zinc is notifying customers of the price increase, which is being implemented to offset the increased zinc premiums and other cost pressures associated with producing zinc oxide, often used as an additive in tires and other rubber products.
“Current spot premiums in the market are not sustainable,” said U.S. Zinc President Tracy Baugh. “Ultimately, this price increase allows us to stay ahead of market demand, while maintaining the highest quality and customer service our customers have come to expect.”
