CLEVELAND—Hexpol Compounding L.L.C.'s Burton Rubber Processing facility has been listed in the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Top Workplaces list for the second straight year, receiving the honor as a midsized business (150-459 employees).
“Our goal is to keep all aspects of Burton Rubber Processing amazing—amazing to our associates, valued customers and the community we serve,” John Gorrell, general manager of Burton Rubber, said in a statement. “It's an honor and privilege to have our company recognized for the second consecutive year. We are proud to be associated with so many other well-respected businesses in our region.”
The newspaper's annual list of Top Workplaces ranks businesses in three categories: large, midsize and small; and uses employee surveys to compile its list. The survey asks employees to respond to 20 statements that address work-related factors such as whether the employee feels appreciated; confidence in the leaders of the company; work satisfaction; flexibility; and fair pay and benefits, among others.
According to the company, Burton Rubber employees rated the facility highly and noted clear goals and vision by parent company, Hexpol.
Gorrell said that using employee surveys as the basis for inclusion in the Top Workplaces list validates Burton's efforts to ensure an environment in which its employees thrive.
“We continually train our associates and equip them with the skills they need to take on new responsibilities when advancement opportunities appear,” Gorrell said. “It's very rewarding to add value to their lives and watch them grow, better serving our customers and progressing into leadership positions. If we don't care about the people we lead, we have no business leading them.”
The Burton, Ohio-based Burton Rubber employs 197 and produces polymer compounds, which are used in a variety of industries including transportation; energy; wire and cable; construction and infrastructure; medical technology; and general industrial.
