AKRON—More than 50 programs have been scheduled, along with a growing number of panelists, for the upcoming International Tire Exhibition & Conference.

Among the presentations is a special group on heavy machinery, being presented during the morning of Sept. 15.

Richard Jorkasky, laboratory manager for Kobelco Stewart Bolling Inc., is presenting “The effectiveness of Scale-up Sized Internal Intensive Mixers,” while Lawrence Gooch, principal engineer for Gooch Engineering Associates, will provide an overview of calendaring in “Calender Operations in the Tire Industry—A Brief History and the Current Art.”

The Executive Director for Mesnac Americas' research and technology, Mohamed Hassan, will present “Automated X-Ray Inspection System.” Sylvie Tran, R&D engineer for Dickson PTL, is presenting “Technical Release Liners for Tire Manufacturing Process Improvement.” These liners are a little known but crucial part of the manufacturing process.

The final two presentations in this unit are: “The Future of Tire Production Plants,” and “The Next Era of Tire Distribution Innovation,” both focusing on the future.

Don Heelis, sales manager of Tire and AGV Systems at Cimcorp, will discuss the increasing importance of automating the distribution process. Jacob Peled, executive chairman of the Pelmar Group, will speak on the future of tire plants, covering the move toward smaller dedicated facilities and increased outsourcing.

ITEC will be held Sept. 13-15 at the John S. Knight Center in Akron.

David Stafford, executive vice president, personnel and chief human resources officer for Michelin North America, will deliver the keynote address. Stafford's presentation will be held Sept. 13 at 3:45 p.m.
