CYPRESS, Texas—Argen Polymer L.L.C., a specialist in materials development, consulting, testing and analysis, has moved into a new 15,000-sq.-ft. facility in Cypress.
The 5-year-old company moved to the Cypress facility in April from its former headquarters in Woodlands, Texas, according to Argen Technical Director Joseph Incavo.
Besides offering more space, the Cypress plant gives Argen new capacity for hydrogen sulfide (sour gas) testing at high pressure, Incavo said.
Argen serves the tire and rubber, oil and gas, chemical, and plastics industries in the development, testing and analysis of a wide range of non-metallic materials, according to Incavo and the company website.
The company performs analytical materials testing, including chemical and mechanical testing, he said.
It also offers fluid exposure testing and aging at high pressure and temperature (HPHT); sub-scale and customer test rigs; and rubber compound development and testing.
Argen develops materials both from scratch and through customer specifications, according to Incavo.
When the company creates its own materials, he said, it is because of a perceived need in one of its markets, such as the increased demand for HPHT-resistant polymers in the oil and gas market.
Argen's specialties include:
- Formula reconstructions of rubber compounds and polymers;
- Failure analysis and legal consultation for rubber and polymer products; and
- Materials analysis for tires, hoses and belts.
The company also has expertise in nanocomposites through Founder and President Jeffrey Bahr, who has previous experience in nanocomposites, according to Incavo.
Argen has three Ph.Ds on staff, he said. “Our Ph.Ds have a combined 75 years of experience in tires and rubber, oil and gas, nanocomposites, chemicals and plastics, and carbon black,” the technical director noted.
