ESSEN, Germany—Evonik Industries Corp. has opened a new silanes competence center at its Rheinfelden site in Germany as part of its extended research and development in the sector.
The company said it had invested a “low two-digit million euro” amount in the two-year construction project.
The center's building has 11,483 square feet of space and currently employs 100 staff.
As well as research and development, the new competence center will be home to the applied technology, analytics, and quality management departments.
“We have created optimum working conditions with short distances between the workplaces, which favors collaboration and encourages employees to share ideas and experiences,” said Johannes Ohmer, member of the board of management Evonik Resource Efficiency GmbH.
Evonik produces silanes at sites in Germany, Belgium, China, and the U.S.
