ANTIOCH, Tenn.—Bridgestone Americas Inc. is planning to open an office complex in Nashville's Antioch neighborhood to house 450 employees and contracted resources supporting the company's IT, customer service and shared business service departments.

The 77,000-sq.-ft. office, to be called Bridgestone Americas Service Operations Center, will be in addition to the 30-story headquarters building Bridgestone is building in downtown Nashville. That structure, set to open in mid to late 2017, will house more than 1,700 employees, Bridgestone said.

Together the two offices will accommodate the firm's existing Nashville-based personnel, plus approximately 600 jobs that are being relocated to the Nashville area from Bloomingdale, Ill., (Bridgestone Retail Operations L.L.C.) and Indianapolis (Firestone Building Products Co. L.L.C. and Firestone Industrial Products Co. L.L.C.).

The Bridgestone Americas Service Operations Center will be located on the second level of a former Sears Holdings retail store that anchors the Global Mall in Antioch. Bridgestone is planning to renovate the exterior of the former retail space, which closed in 2012, to bring in additional natural light along with infrastructure improvements in the parking area.

The tire maker did not disclose the expected investment nor say why these jobs won't be located at the new downtown headquarters.

Antioch is a neighborhood located about 10 miles southeast of Nashville.
