WEINHEIM, Germany—Freudenberg has broken ground on an $8.96 million training center with focus on how to work in an Industry 4.0 factory environment.
The German rubber engineering company said that the new center will offer a “learning factory 4.0.” This will help trainees to experience a mini-version of the networked factory with modern production workflows and processes, according to Freudenberg.
“Our aim is to offer our vocational trainees a learning environment that qualifies them for tomorrow's working world,” Tilman Krauch, member of board of management, said at the ground-breaking ceremony in early June.
The 8,530 sq.-ft. learning center is to be equipped with cutting-edge machines, technical workshops and learning islands with touch-screen monitors to a media library, the firm said.
Construction is set to complete in the fall of 2017.
