AUBURN HILLS, Mich.—Dow Automotive Systems and Aston Martin have formed a technical partnership that will bring a broader portfolio of Dow products to Aston Martin production models and race cars.
Dow said in a June 15 news release that it has supplied Aston Martin with Betamate and Betaforce, structural adhesives to enable multi-material lightweight constructions that also offer structural strength.
Most recently Betamate was developed to adhere to anodized aluminum for long-term durability and improved crash performance on the Aston Martin DB11. Betaseal glass bonding systems has been used on other Aston Martin models to bond front, rear and side glazing as well as bonding the vanquish carbon fiber composite roof.
Bataseal is a polyurethane body sealant that's also used for primerless adhesion to a variety of substrates.
Dow Automotive Systems is a business unit of Dow Chemical Co., a global provider of advanced materials for original equipment manufacturers, tier suppliers, aftermarket customers and commercial transportation manufacturers.
