KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia—Apollo Tyres Ltd. has set up an office in Malaysia in a bid to expand its footprint in the Asian market.
The new office follows the opening in 2013 of a sales and distribution hub in Bangkok for the ASEAN region.
The Indian tire maker said its team of sales and service personnel will target the Malaysian replacement market, which has an annual capacity of 580,000 truck-bus radials and 9.5 million passenger car tires.
“Over the past two to three years, we have been making steady inroads into the Malaysian market as this is a pivotal market for our growth in the region,” said Satish Sharma president, Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa, Apollo.
Apollo's product range, he said, fits well with the Malaysian consumer requirements.
“With the support of our key distribution and retail partners in Malaysia, we have been able to penetrate most of the key replacement tire market segments,” Sharma added.
Apollo said it had already received “high acceptance” from customers in Malaysia with its Apollo Endurace range of truck-bus radials, and that it was keen on further establishing the brand at the top of the truck-bus radials market.
