NORTHBOROUGH, Mass.—Trelleborg Sealing Solutions has opened an airframe/engine seal fire test facility at its manufacturing site in Northborough, the company has announced.
The test unit, said Trelleborg, aims to address aerospace manufacturers' need to meet varying fire test requirements in-line with industry and customer standards for vibration and air flow.
This includes ISO/TR 2685, a standard that covers vibration and flame exposure of 1,100 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes without allowing flame penetration or other defined failures.
The on-site test center will speed development of products by eliminating third-party validation, according to Quinn Collett, airframe Americas general manager at the company.
Typical applications for the test center can include aircraft interiors, engine fire seals and ancillary components, such as oil pumps and hydraulic systems.
